چکیده

Transcutaneous measurement of bilirubin is being used for neonatal jaundice. Its utility during phototherapy in preterm babies not established. The objective our study was to assess the efficacy transcutaneous (TcB) comparison total serum newborns at admission and covered skin area (glabella). It a prospective observational conducted intensive care unit tertiary hospital from January 2017 2019. One hundred eligible neonates were enrolled. Babies who very sick, with poor peripheral circulation, edematous, having conjugated hyperbilirubinemia, major congenital malformations, already received or exchange transfusion excluded. Paired measured 6 h 24 phototherapy. TcB (glabella) by an eye protector sample TsB taken within 10 min measurement. mean differences between values − 0.005 (0.353) mg/dl, 0.350 (0.611) 0.592 respectively. At before starting phototherapy, difference (TsB-TcB) statistically significant (p = .125), while these Conclusion: measurements jaundiced infants correlated cannot be as alternate testing.

Transcutaneous bilirubinometry in preterm infants receiving phototherapy.

The accuracy of transcutaneous bilirubin (TcB) measurements obtained with a Bilicheck device in 70 preterm neonates before phototherapy and during phototherapy from the exposed and unexposed skin of the forehead (under the eye patch) was evaluated by comparing the TcB with the total serum bilirubin (TSB) that was performed within +/- 30 minutes of the TcB measurements. The correlation and propo...

Transcutaneous Bilirubinometry in Preterm and Term Newborn Infants before and during Phototherapy.

INTRODUCTION To evaluate the accuracy of transcutaneous bilirubin measurement in a large population of newborn infants, before and during the phototherapy. PATIENTS AND METHODS A single Bilicheck instrument was used for transcutaneous measurements. A photo-opaque patch was positioned over the measurement site prior to starting phototherapy. Transcutaneous bilirubinometry was conducted on an u...

Comparison of Transcutaneous Bilirubin Measurement With Total Serum Bilirubin Levels in Preterm Neonates Receiving Phototherapy.

OBJECTIVE To compare transcutaneous bilirubin with total serum bilirubin in preterm neonates after initiation of phototherapy. METHODS Jaundice was assessed in 30 preterm neonates with transcutaneous bilirubin and total serum bilirubin before initiation of phototherapy and at 12 hr after initiation of phototherapy. A photo-occlusive patch was applied over the sternum. RESULTS Transcutaneous...

Transcutaneous bilirubinometry in preterm neonates.

This prospective study was conducted to evaluate the accuracy of transcutaneous bilirubinometry in preterm newborns less than 32 weeks of gestation. Serum bilirubin values measured by direct spectrophotometry were considered as standard, the range was 2.2-12.5 mg/dL. 32 jaundiced infants of less than 32 weeks of gestation without phototherapy, including 10 ELBW neonates, were enrolled. Close co...

Transcutaneous bilirubin after phototherapy in term and preterm infants.

OBJECTIVES To compare transcutaneous bilirubin (TcB) readings with total serum bilirubin (TSB) after phototherapy, estimating the range of TcB where confirmation through blood sampling can be avoided. METHODS Preterm and term neonates receiving in-hospital phototherapy underwent TcB measurements (device JM-103, TcB) alongside routine TSB before and after treatment. We calculated time-dependen...
